The Pedestrian Timeline was part of the Figment public art event on Governors Island June 27-29, 2008. To bring the unique history of Governors Island to life, Candy created a stenciled timeline along the ground. Landmark events in the island’s past are stenciled with temporary spray chalk so you can get your walk on and your learn on at the same time. Did you know squirrels didn’t arrive until 1931? That’s right. As visitors walk along the path, they can enjoy a chronological journey through Governors Isand. Interesting facts are presented in an engaging way, and visitors gain valuable knowledge while enjoying a leisurely stroll!
