Report

In 2006, Candy and a group of fellow Columbia University urban planning students traveled to Nairobi, Kenya. Their studio objective was to analyze and make recommendations for the planning challenges of the satellite town Ruiru. Working in collaboration with the University of Nairobi and the Municipality of Ruiru, the studio worked with local residents, city officials, and community leaders to define the current trends, challenges, and opportunities in one of the fastest growing areas in the world. The studio illustrated consequences of current trends, analyzed potential scenarios, and developed strategic recommendations adopted by the municipal council. Along with having an amazing experience and learning a hella lot, Candy designed the identity, presentations, and a large-format poster.
