Report
To supplement her written thesis for grad school, Candy created a condensed visual version in the form of this book. Hello, Neighbors!: Outdoor Flyers, Online Forums, and an Eye Towards Collective Neighborhood Communication features part of her research on improving the ways people can communicate with their entire neighborhood. Two forms of communication, outdoor flyers and online forums, allow individuals to reach out to a large population in public space. By documenting these messages in three NYC neighborhoods (the Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Cobble Hill), she investigates how these forums are currently used and how public spaces can be better designed for neighbors to collectively communicate, self-organize, and become effective agents in their communities.
