The Do Not Displace Doorknob Hanger was created by Candy as part of a Lower East Side urban planning study to address New York City's path towards obliterating its lower and middle classes. More and more residents are unable to afford rising rents and are forced to move farther from the city or leave entirely. The hanger references Emma Lazarus' famous poem on the Statue of Liberty welcoming all to New York City and reminds us of the heart, soul and diversity that makes the City so vibrant.
